I will be teaching a class at Northwest Leather Celebration this upcoming weekend in Santa Clara. My class is scheduled for 12pm on Sunday, May 20th.
Class description and my bio:
“Getting the Word Out”: How to use PR and Marketing for the Leather Community
by Leland Carina
For many of us the Leather community becomes an additional career, which can include anything from volunteering within organizations, presenting on topics of interests, and marketing events. So, how do we get the word out to the greater community about the things we are so passionate about? In this class we learn how social networking and other tools can be used to raise awareness. Topics will include general best practices, aspects of social networking, how to publicize events, and resource lists. This class is geared towards those who are currently or looking to become organizers, presenters, volunteers, and leaders within the BDSM community.
About the Presenter:
Leland Carina is Founder of the current San Francisco girls of Leather and a full-time graphic designer at Kink.com. She is an Organizational Director on the Board of the San Francisco Bay Area Leather Alliance and also Chairs the Alliance PR Committee. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Leatherpage.com and is a Senior Correspondent for Leatherati.com. Her past Leather community leadership roles have included co-Director of PR and Head of Graphics for IMsL 2010, co-Coordinator of Graphics for Leather Alliance Weekend 2011, and Head of PR for Leather Alley 2011. She holds two Masters Degrees in Intermedia Art from the University of Iowa.
I am so happy to announce that I have been given the honor of being a Leather Marshal of the Pride Parade in San Francisco this year! Thank you to everyone who made the nominations and voted. It was a great group of nominees this year.
Race Bannon and I will be riding together in a human-pony drawn cart at the front of the Leather Contingent!
Please plan to come out to march in the parade. Race and I would love to see a strong showing of Leather folks.
My first article for Behind Kink has posted! Check out my interview with super cute BDSM performance art model Chloe Camilla.
Here are links to most of my live posts during IMsL 2012. Please keep in mind that my notes were paraphrased on the fly. I did my best to accurately represent what happened.
